Just got back from the track...

Well, Since this was my first time running my car in the 1/4 mile, I think I did okay, but I think something is wrong with my car, it should be alot faster, or maybe I just can't drive, here's my setup: '97 JRSC GSR 6psi, DC 4-1 header, test pipe, greddy PE exhaust, Akimoto intake(dirty ass K&N filter)AEM cam gears, Apexi VAFC, 12 pound flywheel, act organic street disk stock pressure plate, 17" konig monsoons with Yoko paradas. The first run I got nervous and couldn't get traction till I shifted into 3rd, the second run I did a little better, but I'm still embarassed with these timeslips..

First off get rid of the 17's they are killing you!!...if you can try a set of slicks...maybe someone you know can let you try a set out...or at least put your stock rims back on that will help you alot!...and your 60fts are terrible...you should be able to get in the 2.1 to 2.2 range...that will help your times alot...just keep practicing!!!...you should be in the low 14's to high 13's on street tires with your setup and with slicks you can count on low to mid 13's

Those trap speeds look a little low. Have you dyno'd your car yet? Were the gears at 0,0?

Well if you are looking to buy a set of slicks the new LENSO Tomslicks are really light(9 Pounds) and cheap...then just get the M&H 22x8x13 slick and you will be set!!

I thought my trap speeds looked a little low also, my cam gears are set at -3e +1i I should probably put them back to 0 0 and dyno tune them. and I have my VTEC set at 5500, what do you think I should set it at? What slicks do you guys recommend I run? thanks for all the help!

I'd invest in a Quaiffe LSD. If you know how to take apart your transmission, then it would cost you around $ 750. Best thing that you can do for traction.

I also second the idea of ditching the 17"s.

Hyper_Racer the Lenso 13inch Tomslick will fit perfectly with no spacers or mods at all...they were made to fit the GSR...my friend has a pair so I can vouch that they do fit...and they are made very well and are very light...definately worth the $$$

Cool, thanks for the info, I'm gonna pick a pair up as soon as I get some $$$ together.. also, you said you recommended the M&H 22x8x13 slicks, what about the 22x9x13? since I'm planning on more boost.

What in the world was the thought behind those cam gear settings? Try the exact opposite and you will at least be going in the exact direction
